Mon histoire
Julialynne Walker is a passionate advocate for food justice in traditionally African American communities in Columbus, Ohio. She facilitated a seven-month urban farming course sponsored by the USDA/Farm Services Agency to combat food deserts and created pathways for community gardens to participate in local farmers markets while mentoring area gardeners. As a respected elder and advisor, she fosters unity and collaboration in the Franklin Park (Near East Side) community. Drawing from her background in international public health and African Diaspora work, Julialynne addresses critical issues of health, equity, and sustainability. Inspired by her childhood in a vibrant agricultural culture, she works to restore healthy living in Bronzeville through initiatives like providing “gardens in a box” to families, demonstrating that gardening can be affordable and accessible. Her dedication to community service and inclusive spirit creates a strong sense of belonging for all those around her.
